Hooksett Girls Softball League Newsletter

Hello Hooksett Softball,

It is hard to believe that it is time for the kids to go back to school.  The summer always goes by so fast!  We hope all the kids have a great school year whether they are physically returning or learning remotely.

Summer Ball and Fall Ball

The Summer Ball offering has wrapped up and we hope that the girls who participated had some fun. Information on the Fall Ball offering will be disseminated soon once we receive the specifics from Cap Area.  Please keep an eye out for an additional e-mail from the HGSL.

Fall Pitching Lessons

The HGSL is pleased to announce that we will be holding our fall pitching lessons with Pitching Coach Tim Bill as we have done in years past.  With Covid-19, we will not be having the typical 8-week session inside the town hall gym.  Instead, we will have a 5-week session conducted on the upper softball field at Donati on Mondays running from 9/14-10/12.  The pitching lesson information sheet, signup form and Covid-19 waiver/acknowledgement of guidelines form will be attached to the e-mail of this newsletter and will also be put onto our web site @  A filled out signup form, waiver and payment will be collected at the 1st lesson.  To register e-mail  .  Please include your daughter’s name and DOB.  Pitching lessons are open to players born from 2004-2011. Space is limited so don’t wait. Please click HERE for the fall pitching lesson forms.

FREE Fall Softball Clinics

The HGSL in partnership with the Prospects USA Softball Club will be hosting FREE Softball clinics for players registered with the HGSL.  These clinics will held on the upper field at Donati on Tuesdays from 9/15-10/6.  These clinics run by Prospects Coaches will focus on a variety of softball skills and are a good opportunity for the girls to improve their game while having some fun!  These clinics will be open to HGSL players born between 2003 and 2012 and will be broken up into 2 groups (AA/AAA and Majors/Seniors).  The FREE softball clinics information sheet, signup form and Covid-19 Waiver/Acknowledgement of guidelines form is attached to the e-mail of this newsletter and will also be put on our web site @  A filled out signup form and waiver will be collected at the 1st lesson.  To register e-mail  . Please include your daughter’s name and DOB in the e-mail.  Space is somewhat limited so don’t wait. Please click HERE for the fall softball clinic forms.

We are pleased to be able to bring our players these fall softball offerings.  With the Covid-19 guidelines in mind, we are not putting out a fall offering for our T-Ballers at this time as the concern is that players that young would innocently have difficulty adhering to the guidelines that must be followed.  Our hope is that this situation with Covid-19 will improve as time moves on so that we can get our T-Ballers out there playing ball.

Summer 2020

Hooksett Girls Softball League Newsletter

Hello Hooksett Softball,

We hope that everyone is having a terrific summer!

Summer softball has been going well with a couple of weeks of games left.  We hope that the HGSL players participating are having a great time!  Big thanks to our Cap Area sister program Concord Northeast for taking the lead role in coordinating this offering.

We also want to recognize all of the HGSL players that are participating in summer USA softball tournaments.  The HGSL is well represented on different USA teams and we always like to see our players doing well and having fun with the tournaments.

The HGSL hosted the NH Comets Softball Club at Donati Field in July for the 12U age group of the  “Turn-2 Tournament”.  We have received positive feedback about our fields and our role in hosting the tournament.  Big thanks to HGSL VP Garrett Chambers for being the HGSL point person at the tournament and big thanks to the HGSL Equipment Manager Jerry Hyde for making sure the Comets had all of the equipment they would need to prep the fields for play.

The HGSL in conjunction with Cap Area Softball is planning on having a Fall Ball offering like previous years.  Fall Ball games are held on Sunday mornings for the 5 weeks following Labor Day.  When registrations open, players (AAA and older) register in the age group that they will be in next spring. It provides a great opportunity for the girls to get some game play in and have some fun!

The HGSL is also looking at the potential of running our annual fall pitching clinics.  With the Covid-19 guidelines in mind, we are looking at having them outside this year, which would force us to shorten the duration of the clinics.

Keep an eye out for additional e-mails later this month from the HGSL with more specifics on the fall offerings described above.

Hello Hooksett Girls Softball League,

We hope that the girls all had a great school year and enjoy their summer break!

All of the refunds have been processed and if you did not receive your refund for the 2020 Spring Season cancellation, please let us know at

Outstanding Candy Bar Fundraiser $

Just a friendly reminder….If you have not forwarded the candy bar fundraiser money to the league, please do so.  For those of you that already have, thank you very much.  It is $60 for each box you took receipt of and please make the check out to Hooksett Girls Softball.  It can be mailed to our Treasurer Jarid Bond.  We are hopeful that with things beginning to open up, you can hopefully sell off any candy bars you have left.  The league has already paid the candy bar distributor and your support with this is greatly appreciated.

Summer Softball Offering

The HGSL Board has continued to correspond not only internally, but with our sister softball programs that make up our Capital Area Softball league.  There is good news for any of you interested in having your daughter out on the softball field this summer…

As you are probably aware, the governor has allowed low contact sports like softball to return with limitations and guidelines that must be followed.  Currently, only practices are allowed under a number of conditions.  Capital Area Softball is offering a summer recreational softball program for players 6-16 this summer.  It will be broken up into AA, AAA, Majors and Seniors.  The season will run from July 6th – August 14th and if games are eventually allowed, games will be played by AAA and older with practices continuing for AA.  They have designated a day during the week for each age division, which is explained in the CNE flyer attached to this e-mail.

Unfortunately for those T-Ballers that don’t fall into those age parameters, there is currently no offering.  The concern is that those players may innocently have difficulty complying with / understanding the safety guidelines that must be followed.  We will continue to monitor things and try to offer something for these younger players when we are able to do so.

The summer offering will be formatted like the fall ball offering normally is.  The seven softball programs that make up Cap Area will communicate the information out to its members, but registrations will all go through one league’s registration system.  Concord Northeast has graciously offered to be that league.  Anyone who is interested can register their daughter(s) through Concord Northeast’s system ( ) and all of the players from the different towns/city will be pooled together so that balanced teams can be formed.  That means that each town’s/city’s players will likely be divided up to form teams.

Please understand that there is no pressure whatsoever to sign your daughter up for summer ball.  We all recognize that there are a lot of different and valid opinions relating to the Covid-19 situation and we also recognize that players and families have summer commitments that may prohibit them from participating.  This offering is for those that want to participate and fully understand/accept the guidelines that must be followed.  For those that chose not to participate, we will hopefully have a fall offering also.  The HGSL also hopes to be able to offer off season clinics as we have done for many years now.  For those that do want to participate in summer softball, all of us that make up Cap Area Softball are happy to be able to put forth an offering for you.

What follows is the information put out by Concord NE to register your daughter(s) if you chose to do so:

Families that have registered in the fall program through the CNE website should already be recognized in the system as having an account, so just sign in. Families wanting to play but not having had registered before will need to take a few extra minutes and create an account through the site, no big deal. Registration does close on June 13th.   If we don’t have any games dues to either State guidance, or not enough interest, we will plan for skills sessions for Kiddos so they can keep moving, learning and having fun.

See the attached the CNE flyer to this e-mail (refer to softball section) for more information.

If you register you daughter for the summer offering and have already donated your spring registration fee back to the HGSL, the HGSL will reimburse you for the cost of the summer offering up to the amount of your donation  (excluding any monies put towards outstanding candy bar $).  You just need to let us know that you wish to be reimbursed by dropping us a quick email at

Please remember that this summer offering will only work if there are parents willing to volunteer some time to coach.  If your daughter is playing in the summer offering, please register to coach when you register her through CNE and drop us an e-mail at so we can coordinate with CNE and the other Cap Area programs with getting coaching staffs put together.
